Icy River Cascade

Icy River Cascade is a striking, vertically oriented painting that captures the raw, untamed essence of the South Island alpine wilderness. While the composition is entirely imagined, every detail is fundamentally rooted in the authentic character of the New Zealand landscape. The narrative begins high in the background, where a massive glacier sits tucked beneath a moody sky, illuminated by a brilliant shaft of light piercing through a sudden parting in the clouds. Below the ice, a roaring waterfall is born from the glacial melt, winding its way through rugged rock faces and deep forest gorges before culminating in an epic, powerful cascade right in the foreground. Towering native beech trees cling resolutely to the edges of the torrent, their roots entwined among weather-worn boulders and fallen logs, inviting the viewer to feel the sheer, unbridled energy of New Zealand’s wild river systems.
