During his time living in the quiet South Island township of Lawrence, the historic Otago Dam was one of Tischler’s absolute favourite walking spots. This intimate painting captures the region’s biting winter beauty, a time when the main pond completely freezes over into a sheet of ice. A lone stream cuts through the frosty gully, leaving a small patch of open, moving water where the surface resists the winter freeze. On this crisp morning, gentle sunlight filters through the surrounding larch trees, illuminating native ducks as they paddle through the chilly, dark waters.This piece is available as a Limited Edition print, only 50 available.
